Acer Red Flamingo (12L, 5-6ft)

This acer red flamingo tree is a compact snake bark maple with colourful, highly patterned green foliage variegated in shades of pink, cream and white. The vibrant stems are bright red when young. Mature acer trees of this variety have white striations, producing a striped effect for year-round interest.

These large garden plants are versatile maple trees for garden design. They are ideal for planting towards the back of borders and make excellent standalone specimens. As small trees, the grow well in an outdoor pot decorating a patio area.

Acer Red Flamingo prefers a spot in full sun or partial shade. Choose a sheltered part of the garden to protect the tree against leaf scorch, which can be caused by strong winds. Water regularly until the acer is well-established. Prune lightly in late autumn to early winter.
