Acer Sango-kaku

Sango-kaku is an extremely popular acer cultivar, sporting colourful deciduous foliage for most of the year. One of the most striking features of this variety is the vibrant coral-pink coloured stems, the bare branches themselves become a wonderful focal point during winter, ensuring year round interest. The leaves themselves initially develop as a pinkish yellow before maturing into a lush green at the height of summer, these leaves eventually mellow into a softer yellow colour during autumn, providing a wonderful contrast with the stems.

This japanese maple prefers to be planted in full sun, but can easily adapt to a partially shaded position in your garden.
