Known as "tatting fern" the Athyrium 'Frizelliae' is a small deciduous unique fan-forming hardy fern shrub. These plants produce a tuft of very narrow fronds that can stand erect or arch, fronds grow to around 20cm in length and produce small bunches of rounded pinnae lobes that give the fern a very distinctive beaded effect along the length of the stem. These plants thrive best in partial or fully shaded areas, and they can tolerate most types of soil provided it is well drained.
