Buddleja Davdii Purple Emperor is a stunning hardy, deciduous shrub with a compact, upright habit and grey-green foliage, turning buttery yellow in autumn. It creates a vibrant summer display with its large spikes of bright purple flowers that keep on blooming right through to autumn. This Butterfly Bush is very easy to grow and will thrive in almost any situation but it will attract more butterflies and bees if grown in full sun.
Grow this wonderful shrub in any moist, well drained garden soil, in full sun or semi-shade. Even if the plant does not die to the ground in winter, it often grows more vigorously and produces superior flowers if cut back in early spring each year. Prompt removal of spent flower spikes during the growing season will encourage continued bloom until frost.
