Buddleia Snow White (9cm)

Buddleia can be evergreen or deciduous shrubs, occasionally trees or scrambling climbers with simple leaves and panicles of small, tubular fragrant flowers

‘Snow White’ is a great selection for areas where you want a smaller Butterfly Bush, and don’t want to worry about invasiveness.  The Flutterby series of Buddleia are sterile, meaning they don’t produce viable seeds.  ‘Petite Snow White’ is lovely and delicate looking, but as sturdy as any of the other Butterfly Bushes.  Buddleia is moderately drought tolerant once it gets established, and with adequate irrigation, it will soak up all the heat and sunshine it can get.  Adding a little garden lime to the soil seems to improve the foliage and bloom.  In most parts of California, it never gets quite cold enough to force Butterfly Bushes into a real dormancy, and they end up performing like an evergreen.
