Cordyline Torbay Red (9cm, V1)

Also known as ‘Cabbage Palm’, this is a versatile shrub that will add year round interest to your outdoor space. It boasts long sword-like leathery leaves in a stunning bronze red hue, retaining their colour throughout the year. In summer tall panicles of creamy white flowers appear, with their pleasant fragrance attracting bees and other pollinators. These are soon followed by berries, which are popular with small birds in the autumn months.

Cordyline Torbay Red is equally suited to pots and in-ground planting, making it perfect for adding texture to flower beds and borders was well as bringing colour and interest to patios and paved yards. Its architectural structure and striking tone make this an attractive focal point in any garden setting.

This is a low maintenance shrub that, placed in the right spot, will thrive even with little attention. It  is happy in all soil types and doesn’t require pruning, although you may wish to remove dead leaves from the bottom of the plant when required. However, Cordyline Torbay Red isn’t hugely hardy to harsh temperatures so you may wish to give it some additional mulch cover or move it indoors during the worst of the winter.
