An exotic, tropical bush with vibrant colours and a native of Brazil, the Jacobinia pauciflora or Brazilian Fuchsia is an interesting shrub with small, ovate, dark green foliage and bright red and yellow, nodding, tubular flowers which bloom from late Winter through to Spring. Its compact nature makes it perfect for pot planting, but it is advised to keep it indoors under glass in colder regions as it is quite a tender shrub and is very sensitive to the cold.

Plant in moist, well-drained soil and keep in full or partial sun. If planting outside, then a sheltered position and frost protection are strongly recommended. May act as more of a short-lived perennial in this situation. Can be kept indoors in a conservatory or a greenhouse to maintain year-round foliage in colder regions.
