Lavandula angustifolia, more commonly known as English Lavender, is a bushy shrub. Its evergreen foliage means it has year-round interest, with purple flowers joining it in Summer to add colour and fragrance to the garden. Each short flowerhead grows upon long, unbranched stalks to give the plant an upright stature that ensures it is eye-catching and stands out. This variety is also great for use in cooking, adding a delicious, sweet flavour to many of your favourite, everyday meals.
It should always be placed in an area of full sunlight. Its soil should be either sandy or chalky and watered moderately. Using dry soil as a gauge for when to water the plant is advised as it doesn't need to remain moist at all times to survive. Fertilising the plant is also recommended, although always in moderation.
