Prunus Nigra Tree (12L, 5-6ft)

Prunus cerasifera 'Pissardii' is an ornamental plum tree that brings colour and a graceful touch to your small garden. It displays rich, dark-purple leaves on unique blackish stems. Contrasted with this are the magnificent pink buds that that appear in spring changing to blush-white flowers as the weather warms. The flowers are followed in autumn by plum like fruits which are not edible by humans.

Your Purple Leaved Plum tree has a rounded habit with a height of 5m and a spread of 4m in a 20 year period. It will tolerate most soils apart from very wet soil. It enjoys sun or partial shade and can also tolerate cold exposed locations to a lesser degree.

Prunus cerasifera 'Pissardii' is easy to grow and requires no pruning. It forms a good shape on its own making it a great specimen tree. Plant a row alongside a garden path to create a wonderful walkway. Or, plant a few around a small patio or place one as a statement tree in the middle of your small garden.
