Prunus Plena Tree (12L, 5-6ft)

Very striking flowering Cherry tree that offers a fabulous display of large, double white flowers in April and May. The clusters of flowers are smothered on the branches, drooping downwards against a backdrop of dark green leaves. This picture-perfect tree is a must-have for your garden! In autumn the leaves turn to a vibrant crimson, orange and yellow hues before falling. It has a attractive chestnut bark that becomes silvery with age.

The Prunus avium 'Plena' is a fully hardy tree that will tolerate almost any soil types that are free-draining. It does not enjoy very wet positions or shallow chalk. Plant in full sun to get the best colour palette out of the autumn display.

This tree grows to a conical open shape with an even, symmetrical crown. It will reach heights of 12m and a spread of 12m in a 20 year period.

This beautiful tree is ideally suited to larger areas like parks, boulevards or public spaces. It is very suitable to be planted along the edges of a long driveway or avenue, around a car park area or to cover a walkway in a big garden. The Prunus avium 'Plena' holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
